Get Shortlisted — Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 27, 2026
The Get Shortlisted Chrome extension (“the extension”) helps job seekers tailor their resume to a specific LinkedIn job posting. This page describes what data the extension reads, what it sends to Shortlisted (this web app), and how that data is used.
What the extension reads
When you visit a LinkedIn job page (a URL beginning with https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/) and click the “Get Shortlisted” button, the extension reads the following information from that page:
- The job title
- The company name
- The job location
- The job description text
- The page URL
The extension does not read messages, your profile, your connections, or any LinkedIn data outside the active job posting. It does not run on any other website.
What is sent to Shortlisted
The five fields above are encoded into the URL of a new tab opened at https://shortlisted.site/chat?prefillJob=…. Once loaded, the Shortlisted web app uses that information the same way it would if you pasted a job description into the chat yourself: it imports the job into your account so the assistant can analyze fit, identify resume gaps, and suggest tailoring.
The extension itself stores nothing. It does not use cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB, or any persistent storage of its own.
How Shortlisted uses the data
Once the job arrives in your Shortlisted account, it is treated like any other job you import. The Shortlisted Privacy Policy governs how your account data — including imported jobs, your resume, and chat history — is stored, processed, and retained. See the main Shortlisted Privacy Policy for those details.
Permissions
The Chrome extension requests the following permissions:
activeTabandscripting— to inject the “Get Shortlisted” button into the LinkedIn page you are actively viewing.- Host access to
https://www.linkedin.com/*— to detect job pages and inject the button. - Host access to
https://shortlisted.site/*— to open Shortlisted in a new tab when you click the button.
Third parties
The extension does not send data to any third party. It communicates only with the Shortlisted web app, which is operated by us. Shortlisted is not affiliated with LinkedIn Corporation.
Your control
The button only acts when you click it. Visiting a LinkedIn job page with the extension installed does not send anything anywhere. To stop the extension from running entirely, remove it via chrome://extensions.
